Located in the South Shore area of Massachusetts, the West Bridgewater State Forest offers year-round recreational biking activities. It is bordered by some of the most spectacular lakes in the region and has snowmobile trails to help keep you warm during the winter months. This Eastern State Park is the perfect place to spend a relaxing day or just get away from it all.
From its primitive nature trails, to its ski-tracks, fishing, picnicking, and swimming, this forest is a must see in the Northeast.
If you’re looking for biking trails, you’ll be happy to hear that there are some terrain and trails. The Forest has two miles of bicycle trails. You can use these trails on a bicycle or by riding your bike on the roads. They are not paved, so you’ll have to be careful if you’re on a bike.
Bicycle paths are marked with signs and markings. When you are biking, keep your eyes on the road for traffic. If you’re in the forest, you may want to think about bringing a camera or two, as these could help you remember some interesting spots.
Dogs are allowed on the trails if you have a permit. It is legal to let your dog run off leash on these trails as long as it is under control.
You can find trail maps that will help you find where to take your biking. The maps are available for free at the lake front entrances and are usually available for purchase. There are three main biking trails, the Pawleys Island trail, which runs through the forest, the Housecat trail, which goes through some of the lake house, and the Lewiston Trail.
The Blue Jacket Trail has three different walking paths which give you the opportunity to learn about a variety of plants and animals. Some of the walking paths are wheelchair accessible and the others are easy to access.
If you are in the northern cottage country, you’ll find the Northwest Woods Trail. This trail is designed for mountain bikers and offers two miles of fast and rugged downhill riding. You can also find plenty of nature trails in the area.
If you are a beach biker, you’ll find two fishing trails in the forest. The first one has a portion that runs through the forest and the second is an extension of the Long Pond Trail that offers fun fishing in the summer. There are a number of summer fishing tournaments, and they have the best catches, so this is a good place to start your fishing adventure.
If you are looking for a snowy ride, try the Western theme. This trail runs through the forest, along the rivers, and along the coastal coast.
A hike to some of the beach locales and a bike ride in the winter are sure to make this northern cottage country a good place to spend a day or two. The beauty of the forest, the amazing views, and the people make this one of the best places to spend a day.
