If you’re thinking about taking a bicycle tour through the woods, but you’re wondering whether the roads are good enough for your own enjoyment, it’s a good idea to get out to Willowdale State Forest. The better roads will take you out to and through the center. Great bike trails at Willowdale are an advantage to the biking trip. For better pleasure, you’ll want to avoid roads, which are often subject to slippery, pothole-filled construction, and sometimes are abraded by sheep grazing on the place.
I saw on my last visit to the forest’s 2400 acres and 40 miles of trails at Willowdale in Topsfield. If you’re looking for something water-based, Check out Hood Pond west of Route 1, some nice bicycle trails on the Bay Circuit Trail . These trails had wide sidewalks, which provided more room.
Pine Swamp area and the Hood Pond area are two sections that have some awesome trails.
